Vikki's Alternative Triathlon

Vikki raises money for Julia's House

Vikki Slade has taken part in an alternative triathlon, raising money for Julia's House Hospice Care, alongside their CEO Martin Edwards.

Vikki has been working hard to fight against the failure to fund hospices and ensure that palliative care is still delivered to a high standard across Dorset.

Vikki has written to the Minister of State for Care to raise serious concerns about the state of palliative care in Dorset and has urged him to address the significant lack of funding that hospices such as Julia’s House and Lewis-Manning are receiving. She has also chaired a Parliamentary roundtable on palliative care and met with local hospices to hear firsthand the challenges they are facing.

This summer, Vikki completed an alternative triathlon challenge, alongside CEO Martin Edwards, to raise money for Julia’s House Children’s Hospice — travelling by kayak, bike and hiking from the south to the north of the constituency.

Vikki said: “Cutting funding to children’s hospices and wider palliative care services is indefensible – and I’ll keep fighting to stop it. I am proud to have taken part in the alternative triathlon to raise money for Julia’s House. I’m so grateful to everyone who has donated already. We’re still short of our fundraising target, and Julia’s House needs our help now more than ever. My JustGiving page is still open, so please do donate if you are able to.”
