Vikki Slade - Your Member of Parliament
Vikki Slade is your Member of Parliament for Mid Dorset & North Poole, and has lived in Broadstone with her family for over 25 years. She is embedded within the community having run countless community events, been a core part of a large number of local organisations and representing Broadstone on the council since 2011.
Vikki’s background is in financial services and management but she left the industry to work full time in her family business after the birth of her son in 2005. During the 14 years that she ran their catering business and cafe, Vikki became involved in mentoring disadvantaged young people and offered a number of apprenticeships and work placements. She also became involved with a number of community groups, including leading the local Chamber of Trade which not only campaigned for small business issues but ran the town’s community events.

She founded Broadstone Fields in Trust Association - creating the Annual Summer Fun Day - and has been chair of Broadstone Youth Club since 2012, where she also volunteers as a Youth Leader. She has also been a volunteer employability mentor at a number of secondary schools through Young Enterprise. Vikki is a trained Dementia Friend and worked with local disability groups to improve access to shops and businesses, reducing pavement clutter and parking.
In her time so far as MP, Vikki has been appointed Lib Dem Spokesperson for Housing, Communities and Local Governement. She has carried on the legacy of previous Lib Dem MP Anette Brooke in making sure our communities aren't being neglected - supporting families with school places, child maintenance and benefits issues, and healthcare, and helping communities tackle road safety, flooding, and infrastructure challenges. She has also been championing local government, high streets, the countryside, hospices, and special educational needs in Westminster.

Throughout my years campaigning, I often heard people say, “What’s the point of electing a Lib Dem? You’ll never make a difference in government.” However, after a year in Westminster, I can say with confidence: that’s simply not true. Whether it’s defence spending, farming, the crises in Gaza and Ukraine, business rates, dementia care or social housing, Liberal Democrats are holding the government to account and offering constructive solutions. We’re growing because people are tired of division and looking for a politics that’s compassionate, practical, and rooted in community. If you share that vision, we’d love you to join us—whether by registering as a supporter, volunteering, or becoming a member.
