In a project led by our Canford Heath councillor Sandra Moore, BCP council has secured funding in a plan to fix run-down play areas.

New money hasn’t been granted for these areas since 2009, and the Conservatives ignored our play infrastrucure for years. Residents have had to raise funds and volunteer themselves to maintain play parks. Previously, your Lib Dem councillors have pitched in with residents to paint parks in Canford Heath.

However, your Lib Dem councillors helped secure £3.9 million to improve 120 play spaces across the BCP area. These works are ongoing and will aim to fix and replace broken equipment.

Cllr Sandra Moore says: “One of our election commitments was to create a Play Strategy that improved play provision for all local children and young people, and this Plan for Play delivers that.”

Cllr Clare Weight added: “This plan will not only keep current play spaces in good condition but also bring old, abandoned parks back into use. This is amazing news for our residents who deserve to have access to decent play facilities they can be proud of.”
