Vikki FAFD

Vikki Slade - Your Parliamentary Candidate

Vikki Slade

Vikki has once again been selected to challenge the Conservative MP at the next election.  A committed and passionate campaigner, Vikki is the Leader of BCP Council, a member of the Liberal Democrat’s Regional Executive and the Vice Chair of Liberal Democrat Campaign for Gender Balance.

Vikki’s background is in financial services and management but she left the industry to work full time in her family business after the birth of her son in 2005.  During the 14 years that she ran their catering business and cafe, Vikki became involved in mentoring disadvantaged young people and offered a number of apprenticeships and work placements.  She also became involved with a number of community groups, including leading the local Chamber of Trade which not only campaigned for small business issues but ran the town’s community events.  She founded Broadstone Fields in Trust Association - creating the Annual Summer Fun Day - and has been chair of Broadstone Youth Club since 2012, where she also volunteers as a Youth Leader.  She has also been a volunteer employability mentor at a number of secondary schools through Young Enterprise.  Vikki is a trained Dementia Friend and worked with local disability groups to improve access to shops and businesses, reducing pavement clutter and parking.

Vikki has four children, and wants to continue to create a safe, vibrant community with good employment prospects and to protect the environment for future generations.

Dorset has been forgotten

Members of Parliament are elected by their residents and their first duty is to them, a fact that the current MP has totally forgotten.  Dorset is a beautiful place to live, bring up your children, study, work or visit, but its pretty villages, market towns and stunning coast and countryside hide so much.

The Dorset Community Foundation run a programme called Hidden Dorset and it focuses on the poverty, loneliness, hunger and isolation experienced by so many people in our county.  The low wages coupled with high house prices and the seasonal nature of so many businesses lead to real struggles for many households.

But its more than that, Dorset and BCP have some of the lowest funding for their councils and schools - and many in Westminster barely know where we are.  It is the job of our Members of Parliament to fight for better funding, for investment in our communities and for the protection of our incredible environment

As your next MP it is YOUR lives and OUR communities that will come first, making sure we all get a fair deal.
