Duncan

Duncan Sowry-House

Duncan was born and raised in Dorset and moved to Corfe Mullen over 18 years ago, where he now lives with his family. As a local employer of 50 people, Duncan understands the struggles business and families have been experiencing, especially in these tough times. As well as founding his engineering company, Duncan also worked locally as a Postmaster for 15 years. 

Experience

Duncan has dedicated much of his life to community service, having served as a  Town Councillor and for the last 5 years as Chairman and Mayor of Corfe Mullen. 

During lockdown, he co-founded CM Resilience, personally delivering nearly 4,000 prescriptions to vulnerable residents alongside his ward colleague Scott. Duncan also volunteers with the local Youth Trust and has served as a Local Authority and Parent Governor at his children’s schools. Additionally, he has been a voluntary classroom assistant in Corfe Mullen, giving him insight into the importance of quality child-centred education. 

Duncan also offers mainstream activities for adults with learning difficulties and founded FireWise Wessex, which helps local residents safeguard their homes from the risk of wildfires.

Hobbies & Interests

Duncan enjoys reading, gardening and walks with his puppy. He collects and lectures on Poole Pottery and writes a regular column for the local Link Magazine: Gardening Matters.

Scott

Scott Florek

Scott has lived in Corfe Mullen for 12 years with his partner and his dog, Darcie. Although he was born and raised in a city he much prefers and appreciates the rural aspect and environment of Corfe Mullen. Scott works locally; he often uses public transport to travel to work and understands the importance of this network.

Experience

Scott currently serves as a Town Councillor for Corfe Mullen, he enjoys listening to residents, advocating for them and raising their concerns. He has the experience to represent our community.

He has a strong track record of volunteering in the community. Scott, along with his ward colleague Duncan, has worked hard to raise much needed funds for the people of Ukraine as well as closer to home raising funds for the Lewis-Manning Hospice Care.
