Sir Ed Davey: The Prime Minister must resign

Sir Ed Davey has called for the immediate resignation of the Prime Minister and Chancellor adding “this is a very serious moment for our country. We cannot have leaders that are dishonest and break the law.”

“If they won’t resign the speaker of the House of Commons should recall Parliament so MP’s can have a vote of no confidence in this government.”

Johnson is the first serving prime minister of the UK to be sanctioned for breaking the law and has admitted he “fell short” of his own rules. Rules he wrote and everybody else followed.

We now have a criminal Prime Minister who has repeatedly lied to Parliament and to the country. It is a kick in the teeth for everyone who sacrificed so much during the pandemic. The Covid-19 Bereaved Families group also called for the prime minister to go, saying he paid a fine while others paid with their lives.

Councillor Vikki Slade added, “How can we trust those leading the country when they cannot follow the most basic of rules?  This comes off the back of the Prime Minister's extravagant flat refurbishment, enabling Russian oligarchs access to the UK, and the dodgy Covid contracts.  No-one denies that the Prime Minister oversaw a successful vaccine rollout but that should not overshadow his personal behaviour which does not meet the standards we should expect.”

The Conservative Party must do their patriotic duty and kick these criminals out of Government, once and for all.
