Petition against the SUEZ application to extend landfill operations at the Beacon Hill Tip

Lib Dem County Councillor, Susan Jefferies, has been raising concerns over the management of Beaon Hill Tip and the proposed extension to the licence to use the area as a landfill site.  It has now become clear that the proposals constitute a new application, and should therefore be judged against current standards - in particular with regard to its location on Upton Heath SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and the impact on residents.
We have therefore created the petition below which we will present at Corfe Mullen Parish Council on Tuesday 22nd January.  We would also encourage residents to send their own comments and objections to Dorset County Council before the deadline on 24th January.

We, the undersigned, are seriously concerned about the future of the Beacon Hill Brickworks & Landfill site in Corfe Mullen and the application by SUEZ to amend the date when landfill operations and site restoration are to be completed. We are deeply worried about the effect on local residents and the impact on the SSSI heathland, bio diversity of the area and the request by SUEZ to vary the terms and length of the license.

We demand further public consultation on this application, including an open public meeting, and for the views of residents to be taken seriously by Dorset County Council in its decision making process, especially those living within the closest proximity to the site.

It goes without saying that, the greater number of signatories we collect, the greater the chance that Dorset County Council will take notice of the residents of Corfe Mullen standign up for their community. We therefore ask that once signed you share the petition with your friends and family using the buttons below. The proposal is due to be considered by Corfe Mullen Parish Council on Tuesday 22nd January at 7PM, where local resident Duncan Sowry-House will be making representations, we hope that people will come and join us and make their voices heard!
