Annette Brooke becomes a Dame in honours lists

Annette Brooke has been made a Dame in the dissolution honours list.

Annette is the longest serving female Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament in history and has served the Mid Dorset and North Poole constituency tirelessly since she was first elected in 2001 right up until she retired earlier this year.

She said, "It is a huge privileged to receive this honour and I would like to thank so many of those who have supported and helped me in many different ways over the years.

"I am very conscious that the honours system is not able to reward all the unsung heroines and heroes in our society and also that I have been so fortunate to be in the right place at the right time with the help of so many people."

Annette was awarded an OBE in 2013 for her public and political service and was made a member of the Privy Council last year.
