19% Jump in unemployment

New figures released today by the Office of National Statistics show that the number of people claiming unemployment benefits in Mid Dorset and North Poole has risen by 19% in just one month. Across the country the figure has also risen, despite an expectation by economists that the number of people claiming unemployment benefit would fall by 10,000 in January.

Park Home Owners petition the government over loopholes in the law.

Today Annette Brooke, MP for Mid Dorset and North Poole, joined a group of park home owners led by Sonia McColl to present a petition to Downing Street signed by over 8500 people. The petition calls on the Government to change the Mobile Homes Act 1983 to give protection to park home owners when selling their property.

Pledging to help bring back Living Seas

Annette Brooke MP has pledged to help bring back Living Seas around our coast. This week she supported an event arranged by The Wildlife Trusts as they launched their new document in the House of Commons entitled Living Seas, which sets out their vision for the future of marine conservation.
