Last week Health Secretary Matt Hancock ordered a review into the Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group's plans to restructure health services across Dorset. This investigation by the Independent Reconfiguration Panel would include the closure and transfer of A&E services from Poole to Bournemouth hospitals.
The review was ordered by Matt Hancock after he was sent letters by both then Dorset County Council and Poole Borough Council thanks to the efforts of Liberal Democrat Councillors working with other parties. We hugely welcome this review and the opportunity it represents to prevent a potentially disastrous change in the way health services are provided for the people of Mid Dorset & North Poole. People's concerns over increased ambulance travel times need to be listened to and addressed properly before continuing with this loss of crucial services for Poole Hospital.
